Four month checkup
Jake had his four month well baby visit today. He did great! He's always so happy to see different people. What does that say about me? Anyways, he weighed in at 14 lbs. and 3 oz and was 24 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile for weight and his height and head circumference are around the 25th percent. Mike and I both have big heads so we're wondering where he got this small little noggin. He's been having some issues lately that the doctor thinks might all be due to acid reflux. So, we'll be starting him on medicine for that this week to see if it improves things.

Flipping out
Well, we knew he could roll over from his tummy to his back. Last night (early this morning really) we finally witnessed it. I went in to change his diaper because he was crying and there he was laying on his back. So I rolled him over and patted him back to sleep. Five minutes later, he was crying again so Mike went in to see if he could get him to go to sleep. He was back on his back. Mike flips him over and stands there and watches as he tucks his legs underneath his tummy and then just rolls himself over onto his back. Mike watched it three times then came and got me so I could see. The hard part was getting Jake to go back to sleep after all the attention and praise he got! Now, we're going to work on going from his back to his tummy. So much fun!

Four Months
Mike got a job! He just has to pass a drug test:) He'll be working for a place called The Hot Rod Shop. It sounds perfect for him. He gets to learn from a couple of master jaguar technicians. They seem like a very family oriented business and are trying to work with us to give us what we need to survive. I'm very excited for him. So as of Monday, Jake and I will be on our own again during the day. It's been so nice having Mike home to help out. Luckily, I have my friend Amy to spend time with during the week and I'm looking forward to getting out a little to explore the city again. Jake is doing well. We haven't been able to take him in for his four month check up yet. Still waiting for the health insurance to kick in. But below are some of the milestones we've noticed at four months...
- Using his feet to play with toys
- Using his feet as toys! He can grab them and hold on for a long time.
- Drool, drool and more drool. We're expecting to see teeth soon.
- Following us everywhere with his eyes.
- Reaching for toys
- Cute, cute sounds. High pitched squeals and blowing through his lips.
- Blowing bubbles
- He's managed to flip from his tummy to his back in his crib three or four times now.

Catching up
Well, we finally made the move from Wyoming to Texas. Mike graduated from school on March 23rd. Our last week in Laramie was spent having dinner with my two good friends I made while working at the bank (Heather and Jessica), visits from Mike's dad and our friends Mike and Ivy from California, and lots of packing. Our visitors got the pleasure of helping with packing and loading the truck. Thanks so much! We had to load up everything into the truck during a blizzard in Laramie and the next day when we left, one of the highways was closed! Thank goodness the other road out of town was open. It was almost like the town wasn't going to let us leave! We headed off to Texas and spent a couple nights with my parents and then made it down to my sister's house near Austin. She graciously let us stay with her family for a week while we looked for a place to live. Cheryl and my niece Katie got to babysit Jake a lot. He loved it. I have to say, I think he gets bored with me and Mike. He always seems in better spirits when other people are around. We found a nice three bedroom house to rent for a year in south Austin and are loving it. Mike is looking for a job and actually may have one as of tomorrow! I'm just so excited to be in a city I love where the weather is nice enough to get outside with the baby.
